It’s been a while. All sorts of (banal) stuff has happened. But a couple of more exciting highlights:
I’ve started writing reviews for Echoes and Dust, an awesome webzine that you should check out for its eclectic range of reviews and features. Tackled three releases so far from Blut Aus Nord, Decapitated and Windhand. Got three more in the pipeline at the moment, which I’m hoping to have hammered out this week.
Decided to try to start a sort of “record club” with some friends today. The idea is to each pick a different album each week based on certain criteria, add it to our collaborative Spotify playlist, and then use the week to sporadically have a chat about the different albums. I got us started with the first “theme”: “An album that came out this month” (i.e. October 2014). So we have the following:
- Godflesh – A World Lit Only By Fire
- Inter Arma – The Cavern
- Melvins – Hold It In
- Today Is The Day – Animal Mother (my choice)
Looking forward to trying this out, as it’s already provided me with some excellent listening, and I hope the other guys feel the same way. Next theme is Joe’s on Friday. I’ve got a feeling he’ll come up with something “imaginative”.
